Kupwara receives much-needed rainfall

Kupwara, Jul 7: After weeks of severe heatwave and a prolonged dry spell, several areas of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday received much-needed rainfall, bringing significant relief from scorching heat to people.

The rainfall, which came after weeks of high temperatures, was welcomed with joy by the locals and farming community. The farmers, while expressing optimism, said that the rainfall would help revive their fields and prevent further crop damage. People, on the other hand, said that the change in weather had brought long-awaited comfort for them.

“We were worried that our maize crop would perish completely due to the lack of irrigation and the persistent heatwave. This rain happens to be a blessing for us, and we are hopeful that the plants will recover and yield a good crop,” said Muhammad Ashraf of the Khunbal area of Handwara.
