SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed Yatri Niwas of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar, which has been built through donations and can accommodate up to 1,300 pilgrims.
The five-storey building includes 75 rooms with a bed capacity of 225 and 43 dormitory-style rooms. The Lieutenant Governor dedicated the facility to Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrims ahead of the annual Yatra set to begin on July 1.
“This Yatri Niwas is a symbol of our dedication and commitment to provide better facilities for devotees of Baba Barfani and make their pilgrimage more comfortable and safer,” the Lieutenant Governor said, adding that work on the second phase of the facility will begin soon.
Speaking to the media, LG Sinha said the SASB is continuously working to upgrade infrastructure and services for the pilgrims. “This Yatra is deeply rooted in the spirit of Jammu and Kashmir, drawing full support and cooperation from its people,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also said the Yatri Niwas reflects devotion to selfless service and expressed hope that the blessings of Baba Amarnath would bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to the region.
The event was attended by Shri K N Rai and Shri Mukesh Garg, Members of the Shrine Board; Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor and CEO SASB; Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri; IGP Kashmir VK Birdi; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo; and other senior officials from SASB, police, and civil administration.
