Sajad Lone Calls for Change, Launches Alliance with JDF, PDF

SRINAGAR: Peoples Conference, Justice and Development Front and Peoples Democratic Front have joined hands to form an alliance. Leadership of the three parties announced formation of the “People’s Alliance for Change”.

“We have formed an alliance with the Justice and Development Front (JDF), a Jamaat-e-Islami-backed party, and Hakeem Yaseen of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF). The people of Jammu and Kashmir have endured immense suffering, and we are committed to driving change. The current political landscape is barren, and our alliance offers a viable alternative,” said Sajad Lone during the press conference.

The alliance has the potential to be the main Kashmir-based opposition to the ruling NC-led alliance given the traditional vote bank of Peoples Conference and proscribed JeI, which was a force to reckon with on Kashmir’s political landscape till the 1987 polls.

Hakim Muhammad Yasin’s PDF has significant influence in the Khanasahab area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

With this consolidation, the alliance aims to pose a formidable challenge to the ruling NC-led alliance, which swept the 2024 assembly polls. (KNO)
