Ganderbal, Jun 27: To prevent accidents and ensure public safety, the Ganderbal district administration has imposed a complete ban on swimming, bathing, and taking selfies in and around Nallah Sindh.
The ban specifically covers areas near the Arch Truss Bridge at Wayil and nearby tourist spots including Mammer, Gagangeer, Hung, and Sonamarg.
“In view of the high risk of accidents and fatalities associated with swimming, bathing, and taking selfies in and around Nallah Sindh, a complete ban is imposed,” reads an order issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal. “These areas pose significant safety risks due to strong currents, deep waters, or other hazards.”
The ban takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice. The order directs Tehsildars (Executive Magistrates), Station House Officers (SHOs), and officials of Jal Shakti and Flood Control departments to enforce the ban strictly within their respective jurisdictions.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate, warning that violations will invite punitive action under relevant rules.
