SRINAGAR: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has warned recognised private schools against compelling students and staff to attend school during the ongoing summer vacation.
According to an official circular issued by the Director of Education Kashmir, G N Itoo, the Directorate has received reports that some private institutions are asking students and teachers to attend school on various pretexts, despite the declared summer break.
Terming this practice a serious violation of established norms and guidelines, the circular underlines that it defeats the purpose of the vacation period meant for rest and recuperation.
“All recognised private schools are directed to ensure that no student or teacher is compelled to attend school or engage in any academic or extra-curricular activity during the summer vacation,” the circular states.
The Directorate has further warned that any deviation will be dealt with strictly under relevant rules and regulations.
