
Showcasing Kashmir’s growing appeal as a golf tourism destination, the India Junior Golf Carnival 2026 concluded successfully at the Lidder Valley Golf Course with participation from 60 junior golfers from across India, prompting the Tourism Department to announce renewed efforts for the upgradation and maintenance of golf infrastructure through a series of future events.
The two day India Junior Golf Carnival 2026 was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in collaboration with Innovative Sports and Leisure.
The event, as per the tourism Department Kashmir witnessed participation from around 60 young golfers from across the country, including 29 participants from outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The tournament provided a unique opportunity to emerging golfing talent to compete in a professional environment while experiencing the breathtaking landscapes and hospitality of Kashmir.
The event was attended by Syed Qamar Sajjad, Director Tourism Kashmir, as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by senior officers of the Tourism Department who encouraged the young participants and appreciated their enthusiasm for the sport.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of sports tourism in promoting Jammu & Kashmir as a premier destination for national and international sporting events including Golf. He lauded the efforts in organising the tournament and providing a platform to young golfers to showcase their talent and love of nature.
It was emphasised that the India Junior Golf Carnival aims to foster sporting excellence among youth while simultaneously promoting the tourism potential of Jammu & Kashmir by establishing a new bond of friendship and collective efforts. The successful conduct of the event reflects the growing popularity of golf among young players and reinforces Kashmir’s position as an emerging hub for golf tourism.
The participants, coaches, and accompanying parents expressed appreciation for the excellent facilities at the Lidder Valley Golf Course and the warm hospitality extended by the Tourism Department and organisers.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and a renewed commitment towards promoting junior golf and sports tourism in the region. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest reiterated the commitment of the Govt to give flip to such events by activating the upgradation and maintenance mechanism to golf and tourism related assets. The statement added that once any activity is introduced the same paves way for development and maintenance of assets. Same shall be done in the coming days on account of Golf assets through conduct of multiple events.
