Jalali English School, Birla Open Minds, GBHS Jawahar Nagar, PM SHRI Pahoo advance in ALFA Interschool Hockey Tournament

Jalali English Medium School Pulwama, Birla Open Minds Pampore, Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHS) Jawahar Nagar and PM SHRI Pahoo Pulwama registered victories on Day 6 of the ALFA Interschool Hockey Tournament 2026 here on Sunday.

In the opening match of the day, Jalali English Medium School Pulwama, as per a statement defeated Budding Bloom School Baramulla 4-3 in a penalty shootout after the teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Goalkeeper Fazil Farooq of Jalali English Medium School was declared Man of the Match for his decisive performance in the shootout.

Birla Open Minds Pampore secured a comfortable 3-0 win over EFM School Anantnag in the second match. Musaib was adjudged Man of the Match for his impressive display.

In the third encounter, GBHS Jawahar Nagar outplayed NM High School Bandipora 4-1. Rohanpreet Singh was named Man of the Match for his outstanding contribution to the victory.

The final match of the day saw PM SHRI Pahoo Pulwama register a convincing 4-1 win against Guru Nanak Dev School Baramulla. Ubaid earned the Man of the Match award for his performance.

The tournament is being organised by Badal Hockey Club under the aegis of Hockey J&K in association with the J&K Sports Council. A total of 32 school teams are competing for the championship trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.

The final of the tournament is scheduled to be played on June 11.
