
Kupwara, Jun 01: Public Welfare Trust Dorusa Lolab on Monday organised an awareness programme at Boys Middle School Dorusa to highlight the harmful effects of tobacco and drug use under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The programme witnessed participation from students, teachers, volunteers and officials from several Upper Primary and Middle Schools falling within the jurisdiction from Gori Mohallah to Wani Dorusa.
Block Medical Officer Sogam, Dr. Javaid Ahmad, Incharge SHO Police Station Sogam, and other dignitaries attended the event. Addressing the gathering, the speakers stressed the need to eradicate tobacco use from society and said that the tehsil, district and state administration are actively working to curb the menace of tobacco and narcotic substances.
The speakers also urged students and youth to stay away from drugs and play an active role in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
Following the programme, an awareness rally was carried out by students, teachers, volunteers of the Public Welfare Trust and officials to educate the public about the health risks associated with tobacco, drugs and other harmful substances.
Participants pledged to continue spreading awareness and contribute towards building a tobacco-free and drug-free society.
