MLA Waheed Para undertakes extensive constituency tour

During the day-long visit, Waheed Parra toured 14 villages including Pulwama Town. While visiting Sirnoo, he inspected the Sirnoo Women’s Park Project, Indoor Sports Stadium, and reviewed progress of the under-construction Youth Library. He also visited the Slaughter House at Drusoo Bus Stand, Pulwama, taking stock of its work and the requirements for its effective operation, said a press release.

Parra later visited Washbugh, where he reviewed work on the PatwariKhana, Public Park Washbugh, and inspected ongoing development activities around Mir SahabJamia Masjid.  He subsequently visited Malikpora and Dangarpora to assess various ongoing developmental works and interacted with local residents regarding civic and infrastructure-related issues.

Continuing his tour, Parra visited TahabPulwama to inspect the under-construction Tahab Tunnel Project, being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore. He stressed the importance of timely completion of the project and directed concerned departments to ensure adherence to quality standards and project timelines. Given the commencement of the paddy cultivation season, Parra placed special emphasis on reviewing irrigation infrastructure across the constituency. He visited the Banderpora Lift Pump Station, where on-the-spot directions were issued for cleaning operations and replacement of damaged pipes to improve water supply efficiency.

He then inspected Koil Lift Irrigation Scheme, emphasizing the need for the early release of water to paddy fields to facilitate agricultural activities. He also reviewed the functioning of the Malangpora Lift Irrigation Scheme, which plays a crucial role in lifting water to the Koil irrigation network.  Further inspections were conducted at Larkipora Lift Irrigation, BaighporaGulzarpora Pump Station, and the Drought Pump, where he assessed operational preparedness and directed officials to ensure uninterrupted functioning of all irrigation assets.

As part of the outreach programme, Parra visited ReshiporaGanaiMohalla, where he interacted with residents, listened to their grievances, and assured prompt redressal of genuine concerns. He also visited Dogripora to review progress on the under-construction bridge and instructed the executing agencies to expedite work in the public interest.

Throughout the tour, several public issues relating to infrastructure, irrigation, electricity, roads, water supply, and civic amenities were taken up directly with the concerned departments. A number of matters were resolved on the spot, while timelines were fixed for the completion of pending works. The visit was accompanied by senior officials from various departments, including the Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council Pulwama; Executive Engineer Irrigation Division Pulwama; Executive Engineer R&B Pulwama; AEE KPDCL Pulwama; AEE Mechanical Irrigation Awantipora; Executive Engineer R&B Awantipora; AEE and AE/JE R&B Awantipora; AEE PHE Division Awantipora; Executive Engineer PHE Division Pulwama; AE Mechanical Irrigation Division Awantipora; JE Town Municipal Council Pulwama; AEE KPDCL Awantipora; AE and JE Irrigation Division Malangpora; SHO Pulwama; and other concerned officers.

A large number of local residents accompanied the MLA during the tour and apprised him of issues concerning their respective areas.  Reiterating his commitment to people-centric governance, Waheed Parra assured residents that all genuine concerns and developmental requirements would be pursued vigorously with the concerned authorities. Speaking during the visit, Parra emphasised that ensuring adequate irrigation facilities for farmers remains a top priority, particularly at the onset of the paddy cultivation season. He stated that the inspection of lift irrigation schemes, pump stations, and related infrastructure was undertaken to guarantee timely water availability to agricultural lands and to safeguard the interests of the farming community.

He further reiterated his commitment to accelerating development across Pulwama through continuous monitoring of projects, coordination with departments, and sustained engagement with the public to ensure that developmental benefits reach every village and locality.
