SRINAGAR: The Government of India has approved the appointment of IPS officer Rakesh Balwal (Manipur cadre, 2012 batch) as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on deputation, according to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Ministry has instructed the Government of Manipur to relieve the officer without delay to enable him to assume his new assignment at the Centre.

As per the official communication issued from Kartavya Bhavan-3 in New Delhi, the posting will be governed by the standard terms and conditions applicable to central deputation.

The order also requests CRPF headquarters to inform the Ministry of the officer’s date of joining after he takes charge of the post.

Rakesh Balwal, a native of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir, is a 2012-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Manipur cadre. He is known for his role in the investigation into the 2019 Pulwama terror attack and for his tenure as Senior Superintendent of Police in Srinagar.
