SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday ordered the promotion of five officers to the Selection Grade of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) in Level-12 pay scale (Rs 78,800–2,09,200).

According to Government Order No. 924-JK(GAD) of 2026 dated May 15, 2026, the promotions were approved following Council of Ministers Decision No. 056/06/2026 dated April 30, 2026.

The officers promoted include Prince Noorul Hamid, Mazahir Hussain Shah, Peerzada Farhat Ahmed, Arun Kumar Badyal and Syed Nadeem Iqbal Andrabi.

Prince Noorul Hamid has been granted promotion notionally with effect from December 5, 2024, while Mazahir Hussain Shah has been promoted notionally from September 26, 2025. The remaining three officers have been promoted prospectively.

The order further stated that Prince Noorul Hamid has been designated as Additional Secretary in his respective department, while the other officers shall continue at their present places of posting till further orders.

The government also clarified that the promotions shall remain subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts of law.
