South Kashmir: Police Solve GMC Dialgam Theft Case, One Arrested | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have solved a theft case involving electronic items stolen from Government Medical College (GMC) Dialgam and arrested one of the accused, officials said on Wednesday.

According to police, a desktop computer, a high-end laptop and other electronic accessories were reported stolen from the medical college premises following which Police Post Dialgam initiated an immediate investigation.

During the probe, investigators examined and analysed bank transaction records of multiple suspects in coordination with concerned banks. Police said suspicious financial activity linked to two individuals helped them establish crucial leads in the case.

Based on the investigation, one accused, identified as Fahad Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmad, a resident of Bangdar Danter, was apprehended. During questioning, he allegedly confessed to his involvement in the theft along with another accused, Aazan Bhat of Moominabad.

Acting on the disclosure, police recovered all stolen items, including the desktop computer, laptop and associated accessories.

A case under FIR No. 142/2026 under Sections 331 and 305(E) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at the concerned police station. Further investigation is underway to ascertain additional involvement and recoveries, police said.

Officials said swift action by the investigating team led to the prompt resolution of the case and recovery of public property. Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to protecting government assets and ensuring strict action against those involved in criminal offences.
