Principal, AP suspended over harassment allegations at Srinagar college; time-bound probe ordered

Srinagar, May 08: Higher Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Friday ordered suspension of Principal and an Assistant Professor of Amar Singh College following an alleged harassment incident at the college.

Officials in the knowhow of things said the minister took serious note of the incident and directed the Higher Education Department to initiate immediate action against the concerned officials pending inquiry.

They said a time-bound probe has been ordered into the matter, with directions to complete the investigation within one week.

Officials further said strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty after the completion of the inquiry.

The Higher Education Department has in the meantime said that a fair and transparent investigation would be conducted to ensure justice and uphold a safe academic environment across colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. (with additional inputs from agencies)
