SRINAGAR: Amid growing unease within the opposition alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, senior Congress leader and Dooru Shahabad MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday cautioned the National Conference (NC), asserting that the party must fully respect the aspirations and concerns of its coalition partner, the Congress.
The senior Congress leader said that on all key public and political matters, the National Conference should take the Congress into confidence and ensure stronger coordination within the alliance.
He stressed that mutual understanding and cooperation between coalition partners were essential for smooth governance and effective delivery of public welfare.
“The National Conference cannot afford to ignore the voice of its alliance partner. Our concerns and aspirations must be fully respected for the coalition to remain relevant and functional,” Mir said.
When asked about possible consequences if the NC continues to overlook Congress concerns, Mir stopped short of issuing an ultimatum but reiterated that governance and public interest are affected when partners are not taken into confidence.
The remarks come amid growing sentiment within Congress circles that the NC has been taking key decisions unilaterally without adequate consultation with its coalition partner.
