SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 30/2025 before the Court of the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Shopian, in connection with a large-scale financial fraud case involving the Shopian branch of HDFC Bank.

According to an official handout, the case was registered at Police Station EOW Kashmir under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act after a written complaint alleged financial irregularities. Acting on directions from Police Headquarters JK, the case was subsequently transferred to the Crime Branch for detailed investigation.

During the probe, several individuals were identified for their alleged involvement in the fraud. These include Adil Ayoub Ganai, son of Mohammad Ayoub Ganai, resident of Memendar, Shopian, presently residing at Hamza Colony, Baghat-e-Kanipora, Nowgam (then Branch Manager, HDFC Bank, Pulwama/Shopian); Irfan Majeed Zargar, son of Abdul Majeed Zargar, resident of Sheikh Mohalla, Bonigam, Shopian (then Branch Manager, HDFC Bank, Pulwama/Shopian); Mubashir Hussain Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Karena, Kulgam (then employee, HDFC Bank Shopian); Zaid Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad Din, resident of Dagerpora, Khannabal, Anantnag (then employee, HDFC Bank Pulwama); and Javaid Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rahim Bhat, resident of Below Rajpora, Pulwama (then employee, HDFC Bank Pulwama/Shopian), among others.

The accused persons were arrested on 18 February 2026 and have been in judicial custody since then.

After completion of the investigation, a chargesheet against a total of 11 accused persons has been submitted before the court for judicial determination, the statement added.
