Drug Peddler Held with Over 1 Kg Contraband in Anantnag; Case Registered | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday apprehended a suspected drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband from his possession.

According to officials, the arrest was made during naka checking and surveillance within the jurisdiction of Police Post Sangam. The accused has been identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Samad Bhat, a resident of Melhora Wandana.

During his search, police recovered 1 kilogram and 90 grams of a charas-like substance from his possession.

A case under FIR No. 119/2026 has been registered at the concerned police station under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and investigation has been initiated to trace forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network.

Police said they remain committed to dismantling the drug network in the district and have urged the public to assist by sharing any credible information related to drug trafficking.
