SRINAGAR: The National Conference (NC) on Tuesday accused Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti of having supported the BJP during last year’s Rajya Sabha elections. The party demanded that Mufti and her three MLAs take an oath on the Quran to deny any such voting.
NC chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq alleged that Mufti had entered into an alliance with the BJP in 2014, becoming the first political leader from Kashmir since 1975 to form a post-poll coalition with the party.
He said that had the PDP not aligned with the BJP in 2014, the present political situation might have been different, referring to the PDP–BJP coalition government formed that year.
Sadiq further accused the PDP of remaining silent on major issues such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the restoration of statehood, while continuing to criticise the National Conference over the Rajya Sabha voting issue.
