SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Tuesday attached immovable property worth approximately Rs 1.20 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler, as part of the ongoing 100-day ‘Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan’ campaign against drug trafficking.

The action was carried out by Police Station Nowhatta under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 61/2019 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

The attached assets include a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block with three washrooms, and land measuring nine marlas. The property is registered in the name of Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Habibullah Sheikh, a resident of Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal, Srinagar.

Police said investigations have revealed that the property was acquired through proceeds of illegal drug trafficking and has been identified as illegally acquired assets under the NDPS Act.

Officials said the attachment is part of efforts to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks and curb the narcotics trade in the region.

Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to strict action against drug peddlers and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug abuse and trafficking.
