Sakeena Itoo Inaugurates New Primary School in Kulgam | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo on Saturday inaugurated a newly constructed primary school building at Zambalnard in the DH Pora area of Kulgam district and laid the foundation stone for the Zumbalnad–Baidjahalan road, underscoring the government’s focus on strengthening education and rural infrastructure.

Addressing a gathering at the school site, the Minister said education remains a top priority for the administration, with sustained efforts underway to upgrade infrastructure, improve teaching standards and enhance learning outcomes across Jammu and Kashmir. She stated that the new facility, equipped with modern amenities, would promote enrolment and retention while providing a conducive learning environment, particularly in rural areas.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to primary education, she highlighted that improving educational facilities in far-flung regions is central to policy efforts aimed at inclusive growth.

Later, while laying the foundation stone for the road project, the Minister said the initiative would significantly improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges and support local economic activity. She added that better road infrastructure is vital for ensuring access to essential services, including education and healthcare.

During her visit, Sakeena Itoo also held a public darbar at Baidjahalan, where she interacted with residents and heard grievances related to education, healthcare and infrastructure. She directed officials to take prompt action on genuine concerns, emphasising the importance of responsive and accountable governance.

Senior officials, including officers from the district administration Kulgam and the School Education Department, were present on the occasion, along with a large number of local residents.
