SRINAGAR: Several public and trade delegations on Thursday called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here and projected a range of development, infrastructure and industry-related issues, seeking policy support and government intervention.

A delegation of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), led by its president Arun Gupta, discussed key issues concerning trade and commerce and sought measures to improve the business environment and facilitate economic growth.

The delegation also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for restoration of the Darbar Move, saying the move had revived economic activity in Jammu, particularly benefiting markets, rental businesses, hotels and the transport sector.

Another deputation from the Pir Panjal Welfare and Development Trust, led by Vivek Verma, raised several developmental concerns and sought focused attention on the region’s priorities.

The delegation highlighted the tourism potential of the Pir Panjal region and urged sustainable efforts for its promotion. It also flagged issues related to healthcare and education infrastructure, drinking water supply, employment generation for youth in border areas, construction of community and individual bunkers, and strengthening of the administrative framework.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah heard the delegations and assured them that their genuine concerns would be addressed on priority.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive development and responsive governance, the Chief Minister said issues raised by the delegations would be examined for appropriate action.
