
SRINAGAR: Traffic Police Rural Kashmir has issued an advisory in view of a Mega Rally under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan being organised by the District Administration Handwara on April 17, 2026.
The advisory stated that vehicular movement in Handwara town will remain regulated during the event, and motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel towards the town on the day of the rally.
According to Superintendent of Police Traffic Rural Kashmir, traffic from Baramulla towards Kupwara will be diverted via the bypass road and will not be allowed to enter Handwara town.
Vehicles coming from the Villgam side will be routed through Kawari Road and Wudpora Bridge towards Kulangam-Handwara, directing them to use the bypass instead of entering the town.
Traffic from Rajwar and Zachaldara will be permitted to drop passengers near the petrol pump before returning without entering the main town area. Similarly, vehicles from the Kulangam side will not be allowed towards Degree College Road and will instead be diverted via the bypass towards the Bus Stand Handwara.
The Traffic Police stated that the advisory has been issued in public interest to ensure smooth conduct of the rally and to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
