SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday unveiled the renovated war memorial at the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regimental Centre in Rangreth, Srinagar, marking the regiment’s 78th Raising Day.

The refurbished memorial at the JAKLI Regimental Centre, located near the Old Airfield in Srinagar, was inaugurated during a ceremony attended by officials and personnel of the regiment.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the regiment for the opportunity to inaugurate the memorial and prayed for their safety and continued service to the nation.

The JAKLI Regimental Centre was originally established on April 15, 1948, at Haft Chinar in Srinagar and was later shifted to Rangreth in 1993. It is regarded as one of the premier training centres of the Indian Army, where recruits undergo an intensive nine-month training programme covering field craft, weapon handling, and physical fitness.
