‘Dog attack leaves minor girl dead in Sopore’

Srinagar: An eight-year-old girl died after sustaining critical injuries in a stray dog attack in Seloo area of Sopore in north Kashmir on Friday afternoon, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Aiman Adnan Sheikh, daughter of Adnan Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Seloo.

According to officials, the incident occurred when the minor had gone to her family land, where she was suddenly attacked, and left with grievous injuries, by a stray dog.

She was promptly evacuated for medical treatment, however, she succumbed to her injuries, officials said.

Authorities have in the meantime taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation.
