Jammu: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, today directed party leaders to gear up for the impending Urban Local Body (ULB) and Panchayati Raj elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The elections are pending to restore grassroots democratic institutions, as the term of the ULBs and Panchayats has expired. The fresh elections will enable people to elect their representatives for their respective local areas, i.e., municipalities and panchayats across Jammu and Kashmir,” said S. Manjit Singh while addressing a workers’ meeting at the party office in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu district.
Chairing the meeting to deliberate on organisational matters, former Minister S. Manjit Singh urged leaders and workers to hold constituency- and block-level meetings with the public.
He directed the leaders to discuss public issues and prepare a list so that they can be addressed for the welfare of the people.
He also instructed the leaders to ensure that the names of eligible voters are enrolled in the electoral rolls before the ULB and Panchayati elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, he demanded that farmers, fruit growers, and vegetable growers be compensated for the sudden rain and hailstorm that damaged standing crops.
Besides, other developmental and unemployment issues were also discussed, and party leaders were urged to work among the people so that their concerns can be effectively addressed.
