Kupwara Police, Drug Department Conduct Inspection Drive on Medical Shops

Kupwara: Kupwara Police, in coordination with the Drug Department, on Wednesday conducted a district-wide inspection drive targeting chemists, druggists and retail medical outlets to ensure compliance with regulatory norms.

During the drive, inspection teams carried out verification of records maintained by shopkeepers and assessed adherence to prescribed guidelines. Officials focused on preventing misuse of prescription drugs and ensuring that medicines are not sold without valid authorization.

The teams also reviewed CCTV installations at medical shops to ensure compliance with mandated surveillance norms. Bulk purchase patterns, particularly of syringes, were examined to identify any suspicious activity.

Stock registers were scrutinized to detect discrepancies, unauthorized storage or possible diversion of medicines. Officials stressed that sale of drugs to unauthorized persons will invite strict action.

Kupwara Police reiterated its commitment to curb drug misuse and maintain public safety, stating that violations of norms will be dealt with firmly.
