30 March, 2026: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was seen in the Legislative Assembly on Monday, marking her first appearance in the House in six years.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president was present in the Speaker’s Gallery as the Assembly convened for the day’s proceedings, during which Private Members’ Bills are scheduled to be tabled and discussed including four private members’ Bills of PDP MLA’s are expected to be tabled today.

Mufti has largely stayed away from Assembly proceedings since 2018, when her coalition government collapsed following the withdrawal of support by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Her presence in the Assembly assumes significance in the current political context, especially as members of the assembly are expected to raise key public issues through Private Members’ Bills. Party insiders indicated that the leadership is closely monitoring legislative developments, particularly issues likely to be raised through Private Members’ Bills.

Her brief appearance drew attention amid ongoing legislative business, as all four PDP MLAs were present in the House during the session.
