Srinagar, Mar 29: BJP J&K spokesperson Altaf Thakur on Sunday expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for applauding the Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy team following its historic maiden title victory during the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat.
In a statement, Thakur said the Prime Minister’s recognition reflects his deep passion for sports and special affinity for cricket, adding that such encouragement from the highest level will to the players to aim for greater achievements in the coming years.
He said the acknowledgment of J&K’s success on a national platform is a proud moment for the Union Territory and a testament to the growing sporting talent emerging from the region.
Thakur also heaped praise on former J&K cricketers Abid Nabi and Paras Dogra, crediting them for their immense contribution to the development of cricket in J&K. He said both players have played a pivotal role in inspiring young cricketers and strengthening the foundation of the game in the Union Territory.
“Abid Nabi and Paras Dogra have been torchbearers of J&K cricket. Their dedication, experience, and mentorship have significantly contributed to shaping the current generation of players,” Thakur said.
He expressed confidence that with continued support, recognition, and guidance from experienced players, J&K cricket will scale new heights and bring more laurels to the region.
