
Kupwara: International Women’s Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Town Hall Kupwara, where women achievers and entrepreneurs were honoured for their contributions in different fields.
The programme was organised by Tycia Foundation with support from SIDBI Bank under Project JAZBA. It was held in collaboration with Kamraz Asian Aid International Foundation and with the support of the District Administration Kupwara. The event witnessed participation from officials, social activists, entrepreneurs, and members of civil society.
The proceedings were hosted by author and anchor Syed Sakish Bukhari, who highlighted the importance of recognising the role of women in social and economic development.
Among those present on the occasion was Smt. Nutun Shrikant Suse, along with officers from the district administration and other dignitaries. Their presence reflected the administration’s focus on promoting women empowerment and inclusive growth.
During the programme, speakers from different fields shared their views on the need to strengthen women’s participation in education, entrepreneurship, and public life. They stressed that equal opportunities and awareness are essential for enabling women to contribute fully to society.
A major highlight of the event was the felicitation of ten women achievers from Kupwara district who were honoured for their work in areas such as social service, entrepreneurship, public service, and leadership. The recognition acknowledged their efforts and encouraged others to pursue similar paths.
Women entrepreneurs associated with Project JAZBA were also felicitated during the event for establishing livelihood ventures. Organisers stated that the initiative aims to promote self employment and strengthen women led enterprises in the district.
On the sidelines of the programme, beneficiaries were provided support in the form of services, tools, and equipment required to expand their enterprises. The assistance is expected to help women entrepreneurs improve productivity and sustain their businesses.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of Kamraz Asian Aid International Foundation Azad Hussain Naqashbandi highlighted the organisation’s initiatives focused on skill development, entrepreneurship, and social engagement among women. He reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to creating opportunities for women across the district.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Mehrina Rasheed, who expressed gratitude to the guests, district administration, partner organisations, and participants for their support in making the event successful. Refreshments were served to the participants at the end of the programme.
