Bhabha Atomic Research Centre has released the official notification inviting applications from interested and eligible candidates for Junior Research Fellow posts. There are 105 fellowships available under this recruitment.

Selected candidates will work as Junior Research Fellows and will also register for Ph.D. at Homi Bhabha National Institute under the Department of Atomic Energy.

Eligibility Criteria of BARC Junior Research Fellow Vacancies


Educational Qualifications

Candidates must be Indian nationals with a good academic record. Applicants must have qualified at least one national level examination such as UGC-CSIR NET Fellowship, JEST Score, ICMR-JRF Test, ICAR-JRF Test, DBT Biotechnology Eligibility Test, GATE Score in Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences or Biotechnology, or JGEEBILS.

Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60 percent marks in B.Sc. and 55 percent marks in M.Sc. from a recognized university.

Candidates with five year integrated M.Sc. or B.S.-M.S. dual degree must have at least 55 percent aggregate marks.

Candidates with a four year bachelor’s degree with research must have a minimum of 75 percent marks.

Candidates whose final results are awaited may also apply if they meet the minimum marks requirement in previous semesters.

Eligible Subjects

Physics Mathematics must be one of the subjects at B.Sc. level
Chemistry Physics at B.Sc. level and Mathematics at H.Sc. level
Life Sciences Physics or Chemistry or Biochemistry or Agriculture Chemistry or other allied Chemistry subject at B.Sc. or integrated M.Sc. level

Age Limit

The candidate should be less than 28 years of age as on 01 August 2026.

Selection Procedure


Applications will be screened based on eligibility and national level examination scores. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.

Final selection will be based only on the candidate’s performance in the interview conducted by the selection committee.

Fellowship and Tenure


Selected candidates will receive a stipend of ₹37,000 per month for the first two years as Junior Research Fellow.

After satisfactory performance, the fellowship will be upgraded to Senior Research Fellow from the third year with a stipend of ₹42,000 per month.

The total duration of the fellowship is five years. Fellows are also eligible for a contingency grant including book allowance of ₹60,000 per year.
