Srinagar: Internet services in Kashmir, currently running at reduced speed, are likely to be restored to full capacity by tomorrow evening, officials said on Tuesday.

The restrictions on high-speed internet were imposed in the aftermath of the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in joint military strikes by the United States and Israel earlier this week.

Officials in Kashmir said the measure was taken as a precautionary step in view of the prevailing situation, aimed at preventing misinformation and maintaining public order. They said that basic internet access continues, but high-speed services have been throttled across the Valley.

Authorities said that full-speed services are expected to be reinstated after 8 PM tomorrow, subject to a review of ground conditions.

The decision will be re-evaluated based on evolving circumstances, they added.
