SRINAGAR: Tension gripped the Stadium Lane locality of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir after two groups of youths engaged in a violent clash, creating panic among locals and passersby late Saturday night.

According to officials, the confrontation erupted suddenly in the busy lane, leading to chaos in the area. Witnesses said the situation turned alarming when one of the individuals was seen brandishing a weapon, prompting shopkeepers and inhabitants to shut their establishments and move to safer places.

Locals immediately alerted the Jammu and Kashmir Police, following which a police team rushed to the spot without delay. Authorities said the swift response helped bring the situation under control before it could escalate further.

During the intervention, police apprehended one accused person and recovered a weapon from his possession. A formal case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigation has been initiated.

Officials stated that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the remaining individuals involved in the clash. They assured that strict action will be taken against all those found responsible for disturbing public order.
