SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government informed the House that the bifurcation of ration cards remains suspended.
Responding to a question raised by Zafar Ali Khatana, the government said the process was halted under Government Order No. 85-CAPD of 2016 dated May 4, 2016.
It added that the Administrative Department, through a communication issued on November 19, 2020, directed that ration card bifurcation cannot be allowed until revised ration ceilings are notified by the Government of India.
The government further informed the House that the JK administration is currently assessing the additional allocation required for potential bifurcation cases before taking up the matter with the Centre.
