Srinagar, Feb 17: General Secretary of Apni Party and former MLA Pahalgam Rafi Ahmad Mir chaired a meeting of Assembly functionaries at Sallar, where various pressing public issues were discussed in detail.

Addressing party workers, he strongly criticised the alleged “soft alliance” between Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He stated that issues such as reservation, unemployment, and the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A were projected as major commitments by NC during elections but have now proven to be mere political slogans.

He said that despite receiving a massive mandate from the people, NC has chosen to maintain what it calls a “working relationship” with the Centre, effectively shaking hands with the BJP. He alleged that this understanding has disappointed the youth, unemployed graduates, and those who were promised safeguards and constitutional protections. The Apni Party leader asserted that the people of J&K deserve transparent governance, clear policy direction, and sincere efforts toward employment generation and equitable reservation policies. He emphasised that political opportunism must not override public interest.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Apni Party, he assured that the party will continue to raise people-centric issues and hold the government accountable for its promises. He urged party functionaries to remain connected with grassroots concerns and strengthen public outreach across the constituency.
