SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday called for resolute action against terrorism and emphasised the role of society in dismantling terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir, as he inaugurated the JK Police Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, Jammu.

Addressing the event, Sinha lauded the JK Police for their unwavering commitment, stating that the sacrifices of personnel who gave their lives for the nation must inspire future generations. “Our martyrs embodied duty and self-sacrifice. It is our responsibility to instil these values and strengthen the character of youth,” he said.

The tournament, resuming after more than a decade, will feature 14 competing teams this year. Sinha highlighted the Civic Action Program of the JK Police, calling it a model of community engagement that fosters trust, strengthens security, and empowers young people.

He also urged society to combat drug abuse and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing opportunities for youth, creating platforms to channel their energy, talent, and ambitions.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by DGP JK Nalin Prabhat, Special DG (Coordination) SJM Gillani, Commandant General Abdul Ghani Mir, ADGP Anand Jain, senior officials of JK Police and civil administration, members of hockey associations, and prominent sports figures.
