Kupwara: After nearly three decades, the son of a police officer martyred in a 1996 terrorist attack in Kupwara has officially joined the same police force his father served. The officer had left behind a young wife and an infant son at the time of his death.
The appointment order was handed over by the Union Home Minister of India, marking a moment of deep personal and national significance for the family. Relatives described the occasion as the continuation of a legacy, with the son now stepping into the uniform his father once wore.
Family members expressed that the moment carries emotional weight, reflecting decades of sacrifice and remembrance. They said it stands as a reminder that the contributions of those who protect the nation are never forgotten and that justice, though delayed, is eventually realised.
The son’s induction into the force signifies both a personal fulfilment and a tribute to the courage and dedication of his father. The legacy of service and sacrifice now continues through the next generation.
