Kupwara DC Reviews Progress Under Agriculture, Allied Schemes

Kupwara: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, on Saturday chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee to assess progress under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP), PMMSY, and other allied schemes.

The meeting approved a total of 1,116 cases. Under HADP, 566 applications were cleared, including 239 from Agriculture, 66 Horticulture, 30 Sericulture, 4 Horticulture Planning, 78 Animal Husbandry, 5 Fisheries, and 144 Sheep Husbandry cases.

Detailed discussions were held on PMMSY implementation, covering live fish vending centres, fish kiosks, ice-equipped three-wheelers, and replacement of boats and nets. Twelve Fisheries Department cases and 171 IDDS cases were approved.

Under JKCIP, 367 beneficiaries will receive support for borewell installation, cultivation of aromatic species, shallot, hill garlic, mushrooms, saffron expansion, high-yield orchards, solar fencing, sheep sheds, trolleys, and other modern interventions aimed at boosting productivity and sustainability.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that agriculture and allied sectors form the backbone of the rural economy, and initiatives like these provide livelihood support, skill development, and improved market competitiveness. He instructed officers to ensure timely implementation, monitor establishment of units, and provide continuous support to beneficiaries.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Parvez Ahmad Lone and other concerned district officials.
