
SRINAGAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a serving Patwari of the Revenue Department in Ganderbal for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe for official work.
According to the CBI, the Patwari posted at Mouza Gadoora, Ganderbal, was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant.
The agency registered the case on January 28, 2026, following allegations that the accused had demanded Rs 20,000 for issuing a Jamabandi extract and for rectification of revenue records related to land.
A trap was laid on the same day, during which the Patwari was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 15,000.
The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
The CBI has advised citizens to report instances of bribery involving government officials.
