Car Goes Missing in North Kashmir, Prompts Security Concern Ahead of Republic Day – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: In the run-up to the Republic Day celebrations, security agencies in parts of north Kashmir have been alerted after a car was reported missing from Mawer area of Handwara in Kupwara district late Sunday night, officials said on Monday.

Official sources told Alfaaz – The Words that a vehicle bearing registration number JK09C 2175 disappeared from Yahama Lawoosa Mawer during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The vehicle is registered in the name of one Abdul Gani Sheikh, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, a resident of the locality and a government school teacher by profession.

Police authorities confirmed the development and told Alfaaz – The Words that a team has been dispatched to the spot to verify the circumstances surrounding the disappearance. Searches are currently underway to trace the vehicle.

The incident assumes significance as the nation is preparing to mark Republic Day next week.
