Srinagar: Air quality across Srinagar has deteriorated sharply over the past 24 hours, according to an independent weather forecasting outlet.
Even traditionally cleaner areas such as Rajbagh recorded a peak Air Quality Index (AQI) of 314, falling in the “hazardous” category, Kashmir Weather said.
In more polluted pockets of the city, the outlet estimated that AQI levels may have crossed the 500 mark, indicating “extremely severe” pollution conditions.
Comparable AQI levels have also been observed across other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, raising health concerns for vulnerable groups.
