SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s development must remain rooted in its rich cultural and spiritual heritage, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Tuesday, stressing that rapid technological advancement cannot replace the moral and ethical foundations of society.

The Lieutenant Governor was speaking at the launch of a special edition of Sangarmal magazine, published by the Hindu Education Society Kashmir, at Gandhi Memorial Camp College in Raipur, Jammu. He highlighted the role of spiritual wisdom and cultural values in fostering social cohesion and guiding the Union Territory’s growth.

“In an era dominated by technological progress and globalisation, our timeless spiritual and cultural heritage—our shared beliefs, traditions, arts, rituals and values—will shape society and drive holistic national growth,” LG Sinha said. He added that Jammu and Kashmir’s ancient values are an “invisible force” that can propel societal development.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasised the need for citizens to embrace innovation, focus on intellectual growth, promote creative industries, and invest in heritage, asserting that the region’s traditional values, which date back to Vedic times, provide an ethical foundation for overall progress.

Commending the Hindu Education Society Kashmir, LG Sinha praised its work in raising awareness about culture, social responsibility, and the transformative power of education.

The launch ceremony was attended by Padma KN Pandita; Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Prof BL Zutshi, President of the Hindu Education Society Kashmir; Ram Niwas Sharma, Commissioner Secretary of School Education; Ashok Bhan, Member of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Prof  Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU; former DGP Kuldeep Khoda; Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner; and other senior officials and prominent citizens.
