SRINAGAR: The Indian Army late on Sunday night responded with fire after a Pakistani drone was sighted in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district along the Line of Control, defence sources said.

According to the sources, Indian Army troops detected the aerial intrusion and immediately activated counter-unmanned aerial systems, forcing the drone to retreat across the Line of Control. No damage or casualties were reported in the incident.

Defence sources added that a total of five drone sightings have been reported along the International Border and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. These included multiple instances of suspected Pakistani Army drones attempting reconnaissance or surveillance in sensitive border areas.

A few drones belonging to the Pakistani Army were specifically spotted along the Naushera-Rajouri sector of the Line of Control. Alert Indian Army units responded promptly using standard counter-drone measures, successfully preventing any further intrusion.

Security officials said Indian forces remain on high alert across forward areas in Rajouri and adjoining sectors in view of repeated drone activity. Surveillance and monitoring along the Line of Control and the International Border have been intensified to counter any future attempts.

The situation along the border remains under close watch, with defence agencies maintaining heightened vigilance to safeguard territorial integrity and prevent hostile activities. (KNT)
