
Srinagar, Dec 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police organised 218 sports and awareness programmes across North Kashmir in 2025, engaging around 11,000 youth in an effort to promote healthy lifestyles, curb drug abuse and channel young energy towards constructive activities, officials said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) North Kashmir, in a post on X, said that the initiatives were aimed at encouraging sportsmanship, discipline and constructive participation among the youth. The programmes included a wide range of sporting activities, like cricket, volleyball, badminton and football, drawing enthusiastic participation from youngsters across the region.
According to the DIG, the outreach initiatives not only promoted physical fitness but also served as a platform to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and other social evils. He said the programmes were designed to channel the energy of youth in a positive direction and inspire them to contribute meaningfully towards nation building.
