Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Court of City Judge Srinagar in a job fraud case involving alleged cheating of unemployed youth.
The chargesheet has been filed in FIR No. 49 of 2022 registered under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the RPC. The case originated from written complaints by several residents of the Tangmarg area, who alleged they were duped on the pretext of employment.
Police identified the accused as Reyaz Ahmad Taploo, son of Mohammad Sidiq Taploo, a resident of Anchaar Dagapora, Soura, Srinagar. According to investigators, the accused promised jobs as security guards in reputed hospitals and banks and collected large sums of money from job seekers. The amount involved runs into several lakhs of rupees.
To make the offers appear genuine, the accused allegedly issued fake appointment letters and provided uniform items to the victims. These acts, police said, were aimed at creating a false impression of confirmed employment.
Following the complaints, the then Crime Branch Kashmir, now Economic Offences Wing, conducted a detailed investigation. The probe revealed that the accused was operating a fake NGO under the name and style of SAI NGO Consultancy. This entity was allegedly used as a front to issue forged appointment orders and lure unemployed youth with false assurances of jobs.
The investigation established prima facie evidence of cheating, forgery and use of forged documents as genuine. After completing legal formalities and collecting material evidence, the Economic Offences Wing submitted the chargesheet before the competent court for trial.
