Ganderbal: Ganderbal Police on Tuesday organised a one day seminar on gender sensitisation and crimes against women at the Conference Hall of the District Police Office in Ganderbal.

The seminar was chaired by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal and attended by senior police officers of the district. The programme focused on strengthening gender sensitive policing and improving the response to crimes against women.

During the deliberations, officers discussed various forms of crimes against women, including sexual assault, domestic violence, sexual harassment, dowry related cases, kidnapping and cyber offences. The discussions centred on understanding crime patterns, strengthening preventive measures, ensuring timely registration and investigation of cases, and following a victim focused and legally robust approach.

Addressing the participants, the SSP stressed the need for institutional gender sensitisation within the police force. He reiterated a zero tolerance approach towards crimes against women and directed officers to take firm and timely action against offenders. He also underlined the importance of sensitivity, empathy and professionalism while handling cases involving women victims.

The SSP highlighted the role of awareness programmes, public engagement, coordination with other departments and continuous monitoring in preventing crimes against women and safeguarding their dignity and safety.

Ganderbal Police reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for women and to delivering justice through effective and responsive law enforcement across the district.
