KPDCL, JPDCL Announce Scheduled Power Shutdowns in Several Areas | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Power supply will remain affected in several parts of Kashmir and Jammu divisions over the coming days as the Power Development Departments of Kashmir and Jammu have announced multiple scheduled shutdowns to facilitate maintenance and repair works.

In Kashmir, the Chief Engineer, Distribution, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), said that the 132 KV USHP-I to USHP-II Kangan transmission line will remain shut on December 28, 2025, from 9 am to 3 pm. As a result, electricity supply to Surfraw, Kangan, Gagangeer, Gund and adjoining areas will be disrupted during the shutdown period.

Additionally, a shutdown of the 33 KV KP Bagh–Jawahar Nagar tap line has been scheduled on December 24, 2025, from 10 am to 3 pm, affecting power supply to Jawahar Nagar and nearby localities.

Meanwhile, in the Jammu division, the Chief Engineer (Distribution), Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), said several areas will face temporary power cuts on December 24 due to planned maintenance works.

Power supply to Industry Ghatti, Jakhole Bakhta, Palli, Nagri, Lagote, Nihalpur, Khokhyal, Airwan, Jarmal, Nagri Industry and adjoining areas will remain affected from 9 am to 12 noon. Similarly, electricity supply to Jogwan, Sohal Bhalwal, Battal and adjoining areas will be disrupted from 9 am to 3 pm.

Power supply to Battal, Dheema and adjoining areas will also remain affected on December 24 from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm, while Kalakote, Mogla, Sialsui, Solki, Dhangri and adjoining areas will face power cuts from 9 am to 1 pm the same day.

The Superintending Engineer, Distribution, JPDCL O and M Circle Kathua, said that power supply to Vijaypur Industry, Old Vijaypur and adjoining areas will remain affected on December 24, 27 and 28 from 9 am to 1 pm. Electricity supply to PHE Barjani, K4 and nearby areas will be disrupted on December 28 from 9 am to 3 pm.

Similarly, power supply to Kanhal and adjoining areas will remain affected on December 24 and 26 from 9 am to 2 pm, while Vijaypur, Bandral and adjoining areas will face power cuts on December 27 from 10 am to 1 pm.

The power departments have advised consumers to make alternative arrangements and cooperate during the shutdown periods, stating that the works are necessary to improve the reliability and stability of the power distribution network across the Union Territory.
