
Ramban, Dec 17: Udhampur’s young fast bowler Brijesh Kumar Sharma has brought pride to the region after being picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 30 lakh at the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) auction held in Abu Dhabi.
The 27-year-old cricketer hails from village Manda at present in Udhampur district.
Born into a modest family, Brijesh is the son of Kapoor Chand Sharma, a labourer, while his mother is a retired Class IV employee. His journey to the IPL has been marked by hard work, determination, and perseverance.
Brijesh began his cricketing career in Jammu and Kashmir before moving to Delhi, where he played for the Unique Cricket Club. In pursuit of greater opportunities, he later shifted to Bengal and started playing domestic cricket, gradually making a name for himself as a promising fast bowler.
According to family sources, Brijesh left his studies after completing Class 12 to fully dedicate himself to cricket. His commitment and relentless efforts have now paid off with his selection in the IPL, one of the world’s most competitive cricket leagues.
