SRINAGAR: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Jammu on Thursday attached an immovable property belonging to Zahid Hussain, a registered militant of the banned outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, in connection with an ongoing terror-related investigation
According to an official statement issued by SIA Jammu, the action was taken in compliance with the orders of the 3rd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu (Designated Court under Section 22 of the NIA Act), following proclamations under Sections 82 and 83 of the CrPC against the accused. Zahid Hussain, son of Abdul Karim Wani and a resident of Behota, Marmat in Doda district, is wanted in FIR No. 03/2022 registered at Police Station JIC Jammu.
A team of the SIA proceeded to Village Mangota in Doda district on December 10 to carry out physical inspection, identification and subsequent attachment of the ancestral land linked to the militant. The proceedings were conducted in the presence of revenue officials, the concerned Patwari, and independent witnesses to ensure transparency, the agency said.
During the operation, the team identified and attached 1 kanal and 16¼ marlas of land, falling under Khewat Nos. 130, 128 and 170, as the ancestral share of the accused. A notice board declaring attachment under Section 83 CrPC was installed on-site. The entire process was photographed and videographed as mandated, and the documentation will be submitted to the court for further proceedings, SIA added.
The agency said the action forms part of its sustained efforts to dismantle the financial and logistical support structures of terror groups operating in Jammu and Kashmir. (KDC)
