SRINAGAR: The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday recovered arms and ammunition during a search operation in the Bhalara forest area of Thathri in Doda district, officials said.
Officials said that the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs and was supervised by SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS). During the search, the SOG team recovered one SLR rifle, two magazines and 22 live rounds.
Police said the recovery is a significant development in strengthening the security grid in the region and preventing the possible misuse of the arms by anti-social or anti-national elements.
Further investigation has been initiated to trace the origin of the seized weapon and identify those involved in concealing it, officials added. (KNC)
