SRINAGAR: Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on Sunday expressed gratitude over the inauguration of 125 major development projects by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, calling it a significant step toward strengthening infrastructure in Ladakh and other Himalayan regions.
Speaking to media persons, Gupta said it was a “matter of great fortune” that projects worth Rs 5,000 crore were unveiled, out of which Rs 2,500 crore were dedicated exclusively to Ladakh. “These include shock tunnels and 27 important bridges and roads that will greatly enhance connectivity in the region,” he said.
He added that several other projects inaugurated by the Defence Minister will also benefit neighbouring states such as Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh, further boosting strategic and civilian infrastructure across the northern frontier.
Highlighting future prospects, the Lt Governor said the Centre is giving special attention to Ladakh, particularly in defence and development. “This is not just about road connectivity. In the coming time, tourism here will grow, and these projects will play a crucial role in improving facilities for the people,” he noted. (KNC)
