The programme was organised by the Mehboob-ul-Alam Adbi Society, Rajwar, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.

The gathering brought together a host of writers, poets and literary figures who spoke about Shanas’s life, scholarship and contributions to Kashmiri literature and cultural thought.

Chairman of the Mehboob-ul-Alam Adbi Society, Ghulam Ahmad Ajmi, said the organisation has begun an initiative to highlight poets and writers who have remained largely unknown to the wider public. “Today’s programme marks the beginning of that effort,” he said.

Writers and poets from across the district participated in the event and welcomed the initiative aimed at reviving interest in lesser-known literary figures.

The event also featured a poetic session during which several poets presented their compositions, adding a creative and reflective dimension to the commemoration.
